In addition to the skills you are going to need some tools to speed up your progress. Sure you can use the free online tools like Google's keyword tool but your progress is going to be slow. Time is money, especially on the Internet. You will need a quality keyword research tool. In order to find a niche to work in then you need to know what people are interested in. There are a number of ways to do this. One is go to Ebay and click on the search button without selecting a category. You will then get a list of all the categories and how popularity of each of them. Pick the ones that are more popular to do your research on. Another way is go to the local bookstore and look at the magazines that are popular and the subjects they are about and doing research on them. For each niche you are interested in do the following:

• Sit down and brainstorm keywords for each of them
• Type each of these keywords into Project 1 and generate keyword lists.
• Export the list of keywords lists out to a .csv file and open in Excel
• Copy each list of keywords and paste into Project 2
• Project 2 will show you how many searches each keyword has gotten over the last month. It will also provide the R/S (result and searches) ratio and KEI (keyword effectiveness index). Choose keywords with a R/S of less than 1, also the higher the KEI the better.
